I first started following Gala Darling online in 2016 and I fell in love with her instantly. With stellar eyeliner, a smooth New Zealand accent, and a killer fashion sense she had me smitten. Plus she was a Virgo (like me), a writer and she lived in New York City (she now lives in L.A.), what was not to love!? I was immediately drawn to her. I spent days reading almost everything she had ever written on her website (and totally stalked her Instagram). She was writing about really important stuff. Like how to love yourself from the inside out, how to cut the bad habits out of your life so that you can start manifesting your dreams.
When I saw that she had self-published a book called Radical Self Love; A Guide to Loving Yourself and Living Your Dreams, I knew I had to get my hands on it. I had never seen a book like this before. And with self-love and self-care becoming more popular I wanted to read how to incorporate these practices into my daily life. Eventually, her book got picked up by Hay House Inc and it was republished. And yes, I bought that version too.
"Your inner world is constantly being reflected back at you.""Life is not about finding yourself ; it is about creating yourself.""You can live the life of your dreams, and it's disempowering to think any other way."- Gala Darling
This book has three parts. The first part is about how to fall in love with yourself. In this section, Gala talks about how to become at peace with your body and she delves into her past experiences with an eating disorder. She also describes how to create your ideal persona so that you can match your insides to your outsides (and vice versa). Then she spends a chapter discussing how to make more space for happiness in your daily life.
The second part of the book discusses how to love others more fully. This is where she talks about relationships with friends and lovers. There are great tidbits on how to clear out frenemies and fake friends. She guides you through making new friends (which is like a lost art these days) and keeping the ones you have. When it comes to relationships, Gala reminds us why communication is so essential, gives us some sex tips and explains how to navigate through delicate issues. There's also advice on how to move on from a stale relationship and how to attract new love to you.
The third section is all about daily practices that will infuse your life with magic. Gala gives you tips on how to develop your own personal style and how to make a great first impression.
The book is extremely easy to read and at the end of each chapter, there is a homework section. It helps you to integrate all the lessons that she teaches.
I highly recommend this book if you are just entering the world of self-love and you don't know where to start. This book has got you covered. And following Gala Darling anywhere online is certainly not a bad idea either!
