ABOUT

Shaka Lee is a dancer, instructor and choreographer. She was a natural mover since childhood but didn’t start training in dance until she was an adult. She became well-known as a performer at some of Toronto’s hottest venues for over 8 years. She has trained in heels and jazz-funk with the finest teachers in Toronto, New York and LA. She has choreographed for and danced in music videos for international artists, and danced in the background of a major blockbuster movie.

She has created programs and classes for BodyRock Official and Titika Activewear. She has taught workshops for RFX Collective, CirQular Motion and Easy Period.

Right now she is the Lead Teacher for Luminesque Dance’s Victoria location on Vancouver Island. She teaches in-person courses and workshops with them.

“Dancing has been a passion of mine ever since I was a little kid, but I never had the chance to have professional training as a child. Finding heels in my twenties seriously changed my life. I love the way I get to express myself through this style. It is all things feminine; it can be soft and sweet, at other times playful and coy, it can be abstract, fierce, commanding and above all, sensual. Dance has become my workout, my outlet, my creativity, my therapy. If I can get one woman to access any of those sides of her and feel more confident in herself, then I have done my job.”

She is currently based in Victoria B.C. Canada.
